Last week, Harrow Conservatives put forward a motion asking Councillors to confirm their support for the Council's legal challenge against Sadiq Khan's ULEZ expansion.
The motion called for Councillors to:
- Fully support local residents in opposing Sadiq Khan’s money making ULEZ tax.
- Refuse to cooperate with TfL in installing any ULEZ infrastructure (cameras).
- Fully support the application for a Judicial Review of the Mayor’s decision to expand the ULEZ.
Last month, we polled over 1,500 Harrow residents about the ULEZ expansion.
The results were definitive. Over 96% of local people opposed Sadiq Khan's ULEZ expansion.
Local Labour Councillors refused to support the Council's legal challenge against the ULEZ expansion. In fact they refused to say what their opinion of the ULEZ expansion was, and abstained on the vote of this crucial issue.
This is the second time in under a year that Harrow Labour has failed to support local people and challenge the Mayor of London's money making scheme. We can only conclude that they are happy to see Harrow's poorest and most vulnerable residents hit with a cost of up to £87.50 per week just for using their car.
