The consultation period for Harrow’s new local plan has now opened.
Local Plans are the localised policy framework used by Councils to guide, control and regulate development within their geographical areas of authority.
The current local plan dates back to 2012 and is no longer fit for purpose.
The Conservative leadership at Harrow Council has drafted a new Local Plan which will address the present challenges facing the borough.
A key priority of the new Local Plan is to preserve the leafy suburban character of Harrow and help the Council to stop inappropriate high-rise developments from being built in low rise neighbourhoods.
This new Local Plan will also ensure that developments are of high quality and contribute positively to the community.
Commenting on the consultation, Cllr Marilyn Ashton, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member responsible for Planning & Regeneration, said:
“I am passionate about protecting our suburbs and preserving the character of our borough. It gives me great pleasure to welcome this consultation on our new Draft Local Plan for Harrow. Residents always tell me about their concerns on developments in the borough. Once adopted it will be used to guide and shape development in Harrow over the next 15-20 years.”
