All 36 Council-owned tennis courts reopened in June after being refurbished using £587,000 of funding awarded to Harrow by the Lawn Tennis Association.
Before this project, nearly half of the Council’s tennis courts were in a bad or unplayable condition after decades of neglect.
Conservative Leader of Harrow Council, Cllr Paul Osborn, attended the official reopening event held at Byron Recreational Ground (pictured above).
Cllr Jean Lammiman, Cabinet Member for Community Culture said:
“I am immensely proud of what has been achieved, and what will be happening on these courts for months and years to come. The refurbishment of our tennis courts has been one of the Conservative administration’s flagship actions.”
Sadly, this investment in Harrow’s tennis courts was not welcomed by Labour Councillors who have criticised and tried to hold up the Conservative leadership’s actions to secure the £587,000 investment.
