Harrow Council Conservative Group have elected a new Deputy Leader following Barry Macleod-Cullinane vacating the position after 8 years as Deputy Leader. Last night, Harrow Council Conservative Group appointed their new Deputy Leader, Councillor Marilyn Ashton who was nominated unopposed. Councillor Ashton has represented Stanmore Park Ward for 19 years and said in a statement:
“I am excited to take up the position of Deputy Leader and bring my experience and expertise to the role. Through my time as Shadow Portfolio Holder for Environment and Portfolio Holder for Planning I know how the Council can make a real difference to the lives of the residents of Harrow. I look forward to working more closely with Paul who is doing a great job as Leader and make sure we continue to provide strong opposition to this Labour Council. I am passionate about working for the people of Harrow and the hard work is just getting started.”
Leader of the Conservative Group, Councillor Paul Osborn, who represents Pinner ward said:
“I am delighted that Marilyn has been elected as Deputy Leader and look forward to working with her in this new capacity. She has drive and experience which will help us to continue to hold the Labour administration to account. I would also like to thank our former Deputy Leader, Barry Macleod-Cullinane for all of his hard work over the last 8 years as Deputy Leader.”
