Recent research has shown that Harrow has fallen to 10th place in the list of London Councils for the total tree coverage across the borough.

Much of Harrow was originally built as part of the Metro-land project in the 1920s. One of the core principles of Metro-land was to create attractive leafy suburbs, rather than a concrete urban jungle. Sadly, under the Councils Labour administration our borough is losing its leafy character as trees are cut down but not replaced, and our greenspaces are being developed.

The Council declared a climate emergency in July 2019. If the Labour leadership truly cared about climate change then greater effort should have been put into increasing Harrow's tree coverage. 

When it comes to climate change, Labour are quick to say things, but fail to follow through with meaningful action. Labour has let Harrow down for too long, our borough needs a Conservative Council which will preserve the leafy character of our community and protect our local environment.
