At the July Harrow Council Cabinet meeting, the Conservative administration adopted a Tall Buildings Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).
In simple terms, this is additional planning policy guidance which sets out where tall buildings are, and are not, acceptable in Harrow.
The aim of this new policy is to discourage planning applications being made for high rise developments in our leafy suburban neighbourhoods, which would undermine the character of those areas.
Cllr Marilyn Ashton, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Planning & Regeneration, commented:
“We know that the height of buildings is a big concern for many residents. One of our flagship actions was to introduce the SPD to protect the character of our suburbs until a new Local Plan can be adopted.
The guidance will help ensure a high-quality environment that residents can be proud of.”
