Recent data published by the government shows that the number of fly-tipping incidents in Harrow has fallen to the second lowest level in north west London.
Only long-time Conservative-run Hillingdon Council had a lower fly-tipping rate than Harrow. While we are pleased with this improvement, we know that there is still a long way to go in the fight to keep Harrow clean and tidy.
The total number of fly-tipping incidents recorded in Harrow for 2022/23 was down to 9,222, this is compared to 34,830 fly-tips recorded in Labour-run Brent Council for the same period.
Making Harrow a clean and safe borough is a key priority for the Conservative administration.
We have introduced neighbourhood-based street cleaning teams which means the street cleaners work in the same area everyday and get to know where the litter and fly-tip hotspots are. This new approach allows the Council’s street cleaners to understand our neighbourhoods better and means the Council can be more proactive in keeping our streets clean.
We know there is still much more to done and that there are still a number of problem areas known for fly-tipping, but we hope you have begun to notice progress in your area.
